Sanita Sponsors “1.2.Tree Campaign” on
Lebanon’s National Unity Day
On a day of remembrance, Sanita’s tree-planting
campaign symbolizes reconciliation of the past and
solidarity in the future.
Amid a spring of upheaval,
Lebanon celebrated its first National Unity Day on
13 April 2005 to formally
remember the start of the country’s civil war
in 1975.

As part of the day, Sanita, a leading consumer
disposables manufacturer, collaborated with the
World Bank and United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP) to co-sponsor Lebanon Development Marketplace
2005. The program aimed at harvesting youth and
community ideas for a better environment.
As part of the program, Sanita organized the “1.2.Tree
Campaign” and distributed 750 cedar and pine
seedlings free-of-charge for citizens to plant
across Lebanon.

Beyond this environmental awareness initiative, the “1.2.Tree
Campaign” is symbolically relevant in the evolving social and
political situation in Lebanon. The campaign emphasizes growth and maturity,
belonging and rejuvenation. It signifies Lebanon’s lookout for a prosperous
future, while holding strong to its roots.
Sanita’s commitment
to community-based activities and the environment
is deeply rooted in its corporate philosophy,
as well as that of its mother company, INDEVCO
Group.
Since its establishment
in 1972, Sanita has sponsored activities
related to the environment, humanitarian
causes, social and cultural events, as
well as health and school hygiene awareness
campaigns. |
| Sanita
regularly participates in community-building
events, from collecting trash on the Lebanese
coastline in “Operation Big Blue – Save
the Mediterranean” to helping clean-up
and preserve Lebanon’s rivers and nearby
historical sites in “Operation Spring
Valley”.
As a continuation of the “1.2.Tree Campaign”,
Sanita will organize a more extensive tree give-away
in October.
